Trek 6
A very breezy day with plenty of sunshine but also broken cloud. We started off with a long climb up from Gecitkale Pass, up towards the summit of Sinan Tepe mountain - called Mount Olympus locally. Then a lovely walk along the ridge and paths just bellow the ridge, curving round the contours of the mountain range. Again the profusion of wild flowers, such as cyclamen, monkey orchids, wild fennel etc was amazing. We could see to Salamis Bay in the south and the coast of the north at the same time. Margaret managed the whole walk again today, despite saying she wanted to wait for the backup vehicle in the first 20 minutes! Her blisters are beginning to heal (I secretly think she has grafted them onto my feet) and she is doing very well. When we got back to our hotel Bob, Margaret and I went for a dip in the very cold pool - it really does wake you up! We ended the day at Kantara Village. A total of 14.6 miles. Tomorrow we move hotels to the Karpas where I am not too sure about mobile phone signals so be prepared for interuptions.

ReplyDeleteBlisters, blisters
There were never such enormous blisters
Even in her hiking boots you have to laugh
Anita's got a blister size nine and a half
