Day 2
The cry went up 'Did we remember George?' but it was fine because George had been picked up. The day was fine and hot with the occasional cooling breeze. The start of the day saw us walking from Gecitkoy Dam along a steadily climbing track. the view back to Cape Kormakitis - our starting point on Day 1- showed us just how far we had walked and how high we had climbed. Our lunch stop was near a Turkish tank destroyed in the 1974 'peace offensive'. Once again Margaret Chawner produced a gastronomic delight for our lunch. The heat of the day proved too much for Margaret (Mean) and she retired to the support vehicle just before lunch. Tonight I have tended to her blisters again. Unfortunately they are large and numerous and may prevent her walking for a few days. Yesterday we covered 12.4 miles. Today it was 12.7 miles.
